Beschreibung This year’s first harvest Chinese green teas have arrived again, those batches that receive the most attention throughout the entire year. At this tasting, we will explore some of the most exciting teas from the fresh spring harvest while gaining a clear understanding of what makes them so special, and why the very first spring buds are considered the most valuable. The spring tea harvest in China is structured around traditional agricultural markers. Among these, Qing Ming and Gu Yu are the most important dates of the tea year. We will also look at leaf grading standards that determine harvest quality and directly influence sweetness and complexity in the cup. In addition, we will introduce the key processing steps that shape the final character, flavour, and texture of green tea. During the session, we will taste several fresh 2026 green teas. However, we will prepare only small amounts of each, so that the tasting remains focused and does not interfere with your evening rest, emphasising quality over quantity. This tasting is open to both beginners and experienced tea drinkers, anyone who would like to better understand what lies behind “fresh spring tea” and is curious about the flavours of this year’s harvest.
