Apium nodiflorum now Helosciadium nodiflorum (Fool’s cress)

$29.59 $51.49
Apium nodiflorum, now Helosciadum nodiflorum, (Fool’s cress or Poor man’s cress), is a fast growing, invasive native species of streams and ponds, ditches and swamps. It bears pinnate, cress-like leaves and tiny white flowers arranged in an umbel. Its stem is smooth, round and hollow. It often grows on seasonally exposed mud. Its growth habit is lax, prostrate and tends to flop over other plants but it is a useful filler for larger ponds and wild places, is a good filtration plant and will cope well with competition from weeds. You really would have to be a fool to think it’s cress, especially if you eat it – it tastes more of carrots than pepper!
